How to make Bio-Enzymes - Chemical free Cleaners for Home Care

Bio-enzyme cleaners are organic solutions produced by fermentation of fruits, vegetables, jaggery and water. These bio enzyme cleaners are cleaning products that use the good bacteria to digest wastes, soils, stains and fragrance. The bacteria do this by producing enzymes specifically designed to break down certain molecules (waste and soils) into smaller pieces. These smaller pieces become “food” for the bacteria. It is so simple that everyone can make the bio enzymes cleaner own in their homes. It is best to make use of peels of carrot, cucumber, and lettuce too which people criminally end up in the trash.

Bio-enzymes are like the other bacterial micro-organisms which are more like tools that are created by the bacteria to help break down large molecules. Typical bio-enzymatic cleaners contain various enzymes to break down various soils.

How to Make Bio Enzyme:

  • Take jaggery, citrus peels and water in the ratio of 1:3:10 and 1 spoon of yeast. Note that we can also use the peels of cucumber, papaya, grapes, banana, carrot, pineapple, sweet lime and lettuce.
  • Mix all these ingredients in a plastic bottle with a screw bottle cap and leave it aside for at least one month. Do not fill the bottle to the edge. We use plastic bottle because chances are the glass bottle will burst during the fermentation process, due to the gases produced in it.
  • Since the mixture will produces the gases, the bottle cap should be opened and shaken at least once a day. Note that the solution should always be covered with the bottle cap so that the fruit flies do not get into the bottle.
  • Ferment the mixture for at least 1 month in anaerobic conditions. With yeast, Bio Enzyme will take one month whereas without yeast, Bio Enzyme will take 3 months to be ready.
  • After one month, filtrate the liquid and store in a plastic container or bottle.
  • Now the bio-enzymes cleaner is ready and can be used as a multipurpose cleaner.

Bio Enzyme Uses:

  • Surface Cleaner for various surfaces at home like flooring, glass windows and so on.
  • Dishwashing liquid for cleaning the greasy utensils.
  • Bio Enzyme liquid can be used to clean laundry.
  • Pet wash.
  • Insect repellent at home.
  • Air freshener at home by spraying a solution of 1 part bio enzyme cleaner with 3 parts of water.
  • Bathroom and Toilet Cleaner.
  • Diluted Bio Enzyme Cleaner is also used as a liquid nutrient or liquid fertilizer for plants.
  • Fruit and vegetables Cleaner to remove pesticides and other chemicals from it.
  • Natural pesticides and herbicides.
  • Easy to make and easy on your pocket too.

Bio-enzymes cleaners are great in various applications. They can be used as general surface cleaners, restroom cleaners, carpet spotters, smell eliminators and more. Bio-enzyme cleaners are especially good for use in restrooms because they can remove malodors generated from urine.

There are various benefits to using bio-enzymes cleaners:

  1. Bio-enzymes cleaners are an essential part of sustainable living and are completely safe for the environment and human health compared to other chemical products.
  2. They are affordable in comparison to the toxic chemical cleaners that are available in the market.
  3. Bio-enzymes cleaners encourage a zero waste lifestyle as it helps recycle kitchen wet waste to a great extent, that means lesser waste in landfills, rivers, lakes and sea.
  4. Bio-enzymes cleaners do not pollute the lakes and underground water during its production or after its use, unlike chemical cleansers.

The bacteria and enzymes are left as residuals and keep working for up to 80 hours after usage, ensuring that soils and malodors are fully removed.
